Our updated maps for the new writing curriculum have been released!

Brand new child friendly writing targets for the new national curriculum, to help assess a child’s writing levels. The entire English curriculum for each Year group has been broken down into targets or ‘I can’ statements in each writing content domain: Grammar, Composition, Presentation and Spelling. Each writing target is taken directly from the new national curriculum for English and written in an easy-to-understand way, without losing the specificity of the statement.

Appealing Design

Writing Targets- colourful and based on the new national curriculumEach year group’s targets have been plotted on to a colourful map – a space theme which appeals to boys and girls. Each writing target is contained in a box, with three smaller boxes so teachers can indicate when a target is met. Some schools also use these boxes to show when a pupil is “beginning”, “developing” or “secure”. The maps also include a ‘exceeding’ section for high flyers.
